Snow Cake
A very interesting movie with Alan Rickman, Sigourney Weaver and Carrie-Anne Moss.  Plot is: Alan Rickman picks up a hitchhiker; and this seems to be the latest way of dealing with a movie, is a horrific car crash and deals with a the kid's mom who is Sigourney Weaver, who is mentally challenged. They say she’s autistic; it seems to me that’s an inaccurate diagnosis, but never-the- less very interesting, offbeat movie with terrific performances.

The Hip Hop Project
Is a documentary on a guy who use to be homeless.  He decides to mentor city youths who want to express themselves through hip-hop. Let me be honest with you, not my style of movie.  I can take hip-hop in tiny dosages.  But it is inspirational and it is somebody who has comes from certainly less than nothing, to really be an inspiration for people and so for that its interesting if you like hip-hop.

Diggers
Its actually a little movie that I liked a lot.  Its set in Massachusetts and the diggers are clam diggers. Paul Rudd is in it and Maura Tierney.  It is kind of a family saga, and very well written.  The idea is: What happens when a big fancy corporation comes to town?  Is it going to put the little guys out of work?  So its one of the movies that has somewhat a wider implication.

Dreaming Lhasa
This is a movie about a woman making a documentary about the exiled Tibetans.  So it starts really clunky.  BUT this is a movie that sucks you in, in a way that’s completely unanticipated, because you think to yourself, do you really want to watch this?  You do, because all of a sudden you’ll really start to care about these characters.  And its been while since you’ve cared about your characters.

Everything’s Gone Green
This is a smart, funny, offbeat movie.  It is just a cute movie.  Set in San Francisco and it looks gorgeous.  I really liked this movie, small movie but good.

Private Fears in Public Places
A lovely gentle treed us on love, real estate, and loneliness, set in Paris.  This is a really nice movie.

Fracture
Ryan Gosling and Anthony Hopkins.  Terrific performances. Anthony Hopkins is always good and Ryan Gosling I think is an underrated actor who’s really very very good at what he does.  The problem about this movie as far as I’m concerned, is that I guessed the entire movie in the first five minutes. Having said that, it is fun to watch these two actors go at it. It’s an interesting movie.

In The Land Of Women
Adam Brody, who’s adorable. Charming actor, who’s girlfriend breaks up with him in the opening scene. He decides to go visit to his Grandmother (Olympia Dukakis) who’s never been better then she but in this role. And Sort of what he learns about love and loss and himself.  Chick flick but great fun to watch.

Vacancy
It’s a slasher flick. Luke Wilson and Kate Beckinsale, both of them very good actors.  They’re an estranged couple whose car breaks down on the highway.  Been there, seen this.  Don’t get out of the car!  Cell phones don’t work!  If they had GPS they’d probably be okay. Frank Whaley who’s also a terrific actor is in this.  You know I don’t like slasher flicks but you may.

Perfect Strangers
Halle Berry, Bruce Willis, Giovanni Ribisi.  It’s described as a woman going under cover to figure out a business man as friends killer…NOT.  This is a crummy B movie with a really great cast.  It will surprise you.  I don’t want to spoil all the moments for you.

Disturbia
This is one that from the poster you think, Oh Please!  This is actually a very good movie.  Shia LaBeouf who is really a terrific actor. David Morse who’s also wonderful. Carrie-Anne Moss who’s okay. The first five minutes are really upsetting (not something to take the little kids). Its really one of the most alarming sequences you will ever see in a movie in the first 5 minutes, I promise. The idea is a 16 year old kid, who gets put on house arrest,  bored out of his mind, and he thinks he may have seen a murder next door.  Does he or doesn’t he? I won’t tell.  A surprisingly good movie with a really good cast.

Year Of the Dog
Molly Shannon, John Reilly, Peter Sarsgaard, again a very good cast.  This is a movie I wanted to slap to the curb. It is so wrong headed.  There are so many problems with this.  I guess it’s supposed to be a feel good movie.  It just irritated the daylights out of me and I like dogs.

Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie for Theaters
The first five minutes were brilliant. And then it becomes the movie.  It makes you appreciate South Park.  Its not a very funny money.  But again the first 5 minutes were brilliant.

The Hoax
It’s a pretty interesting movie with Richard Gere playing Clifford Irving and Alfred Molina as his sidekick. Do you remember to story of Clifford Irving… he faked a biography of Howard Hughes.  This is a combination of news real footage and actual performances and it’s actually very interesting except the ending.  The ending doesn’t make any sense at all, it goes off the deep end.  Its probably Richard Geres best work so far.  He doesn’t play the usual heartthrob.  Alfred Molina is always fabulous.

The Reaping
B movie with an A cast.  The most fascinating about this is, Hilary Swank who plays a minister who’s lost her faith.  You’ll find out why in the movie, which is not charming. But she gives the best explanation of the 10 plagues that are part of Passover.  There is a little girl in it AnnaSophia Robb, who is a wonderful actress. Watch out for this kid.

Black Book
Wonderful movie.  Paul Verhoeven who is Dutch and he goes back to his roots to look at WWII.  This is a WWII movie like you’ve never seen before. The Nazi’s are not necessarily the bad guys.  The heroin is a Jewish woman who decides to save herself and become a spy by attaching herself to the head Nazi in Holland.  It turns out after the armistices, the Dutch are almost as blood thirsty as the Germans.  Really good movie.

Meet The Robinsons
The idea is, that a kid who doesn’t fit in, and not only doesn’t he fit in but he’s an orphan and a very bright one at that.  There’s a time machine involved, and a family in the future. This is really a psychologically astute movie.  Very smart and clever.  The animation is very attractive.  This is the stuff in which how Disney made their legends. Based on a true novel.  You won’t gnash your teeth if you have to take the kids to see it.

The Look Out
This is with Jason Gordon-Levitt ( Kid from Third Rock from the Sun).  Very talented actor and very good movie.  He plays a kid who has been brain damaged and he ends up being a look out for a bank robbery. Very offbeat well-done movie.  Worth some time.

Blades of Glory
This one is fun and funny.  Will Farrell in spandex!  He and John Header play revival ice skaters that have to team up for reasons that only could come up in a movie.  It’s a fun silly movie!

Peaceful Warrior
Came out last year and did nothing.  This is a re-release with Nick Nolte who plays kind of a Yoda type character dealing with a young man whose a gymnast who was in a terrible accident.

After The Wedding
This is a wonderful movie that you really should see.  It’s about a man who goes to an ex-girlfriends wedding and discovers a child he didn’t know he had.  This is a must see!

Shooter
Mark Wahlberg, Michael Pena, Danny Glover as well as Elias Koteas who I really like as an actor.  Basically this is Rambo 2007, in that he’s a loner. He really does play a working class guy pretty well.  He has the swagger down pack.  He has the working guys sensibility down pack.  The deal is, you see him in Ethiopia as a shooter.  Supposedly these government agents find him out in Montana with his dog, living a lonely life. The look for him to tell him there has been a legitimate threat to the President and they need him to cut them off at the pass.  And given these days we don’t trust anyone from the government, at least not in this movie.  Fight sequences are very clever.

Reign Over Me
This is the Adam Sandler, Don Cheadle Movie. This one specifically deals with memory.  This one deals with basically posttraumatic stress syndrome with Adam Sandler in a dramatic role.  If you’re expecting this to be funny you’re going to be in for a major shock! Don Cheadle is wonderful in it!  The idea is…Is it okay to voluntarily forget something?  Is it okay to build up such strong defenses that you completely block out something that makes you unhappy? and at what price?  This is a thought-provoking movie.  Much better than I expected.

Pride
Terrence Howard is a wonderful actor.  Bernie Mac plays a straight role.  This is a basically a “soggy rocky”.  Apparently based on a true story with an inner city coach who coaches a bunch of near-do-well kids in swim meet.  And because they are all kids of color, the other people in the Lily White towns refuse to swim with them in Philadelphia.  Not great but not bad.

TMNT
If you’re a fan of the franchise, this one maybe a little disappointing because they’ve really kind of re-mastered it. This is a surprisingly entertaining movie.   Great voices including Patrick Stewart.  Basically about a dysfunctional family and how they get together and fight crime. Your kids should enjoy this one. And if you are an adult who got roped into taking the kids you wont hate it!

The Last Mimzy
Is the story of a time traveler.  Its start out creepy and you’re going to have to tolerate it temporarily.  Then it turns into a very charming movie based on a favorite children’s  book  A Mimzy is this kind of device that came from the future.  The kids in it are terrific if you excuse them for the first fifteen minutes of the movie.

First Snow
I love Guy Pearce, I think he’s a terrific actor.  Instead of memory this is about avoiding your destiny.  The idea is the guy finds out from a fortuneteller that he’s going to die during the first snow, so what does he do to avoid it and will he avoid it.

Color Me Kubrick
This is really a fascinating story.  Its got John Malkovich, who again based on a true character, went around telling everybody that he was Stanley Kubrick.  Its what they call a true-ish story.  Malkovich is just hilarious to watch in this but essentially a sad movie.

The Wind That Shakes The Barley
A story of the troubles in Ireland during 1910.  The story is sad but good. War movies seem to be all over.  Though this is a war movie it is good and unfortunately no one would probably go see it.

The Namesake
This is the latest of Mira Nair. Based on a popular novel.  It’s really a lovely movie. It’s a family saga.  Mira is very visual and this is definitely beautiful, touching and loving. Definitely a movie to see.

300
This is serious C.G.I (computer generated imaging).  I liked this movie. I don’t think it was a call to war like some people may think. The Spartans felt they were about to be taken over by Xerxes and they felt they had to make a last stand.  This was fun to watch but not for small children.  This will give them nightmares.

Maxed Out - Hard Times, Easy Credit, and the Era of Predatory Lenders
This is a little hard to tell you about it. It’s a terrific documentary but you may want to set your hair on fire afterwards, really upsetting.

Lives Of Others
The setting is the "Fall of the Berlin Wall" and what happens with East German spies who spy on other people.

Music & Lyrics
Hugh Grant & Drew Barrymore.  This is definitely a Hugh Grant movie. Hugh Grant is swoon worthy in this one.  Just wonderful.  Cool romantic movie, perfect for a Valentines Day opening.

Breach
The idea is Chris Copper as Robert Hanssen has been selling secrets to the Soviet Union and Ryan Philippe is put in place as his assistant to get the goods on him.  This is what the movie Good Shepard tried to be, but wasn’t.

Bridge to Terabithia
Based on a popular children’s story that has been a best seller for over 50 years.  The reason why this movie works is because the two leads are just lovely.   The little boy is an outcast and nobody likes him.  The little girl is new to the school and they strike up a friendship.  One is good at drawing pictures and the other is good at telling stories. I can’t give you the plot without giving away the movie.  Be careful taking young kids to this.

Close to Home
This movie is a little hard to review.  Its very well meaning.  It focuses on two 18 year old girls in Israel.  It is in Hebrew with English subtitles. What happens when you take 18 year old kids who have to do a mandatory national service in a country that is essentially a war zone? What happens when you put kids that age in that kind of situation? Fascinating study.

Days Of Glory
This was the French nominee for the Oscars.  A wonderful movie that focuses on very little known part of WWII which is the Algerian soldiers.  They fought for the French having never ever set foot on French Soil. (They fought the Nazi’s.)  They were particularly brave, particularly devastating mortality, then ignored after the war was over. This movie probably changed their status in society.

Amazing Grace
A movie about the song which is actually a fascinating story and I don’t want to tell you the story if you don’t already know it. I’ll let the movie do it for me.  I will say though…the first hour is very freaky, the last hour is truly lovely.  And you get to hear Amazing Grace played with bagpipes. Definitely worth seeing.

Starter for Ten
This one is with James McAvoy.  Sweet movie and I guarantee you will walk out with a smile on your face.

Blood and Chocolate
Though I wasn’t looking forward to this, it was actually much better than I expected.  Visually stunning.  Chris Geere is in it …yummy.  Can’t tell you much with out telling it all, but I can tell you if you like werewolf movies you might enjoy this one.

Smoking Aces
Jeremy Piven is in this.  Violent.  Kind of like a Tarantino wanna-be movie.  It’s very violent.  Telling you about the plot won’t matter.  Either you will like it or hate it. Did I mention that it is exceptionally violent?  I kind of liked it considering I don’t enjoy the violent ones to much.

Seraphim Falls
Pierce Brosnan and Liam Neeson.  This is set just after the Civil War.  The family has a feud going that you know nothing about until a good half way through the movie.  I won’t tell you what the feud was about, because I want you to experience it the way I did.  All in all a lovely movie, despite that they don’t talk very much in this movie, but there is a lot of action.

Avenue Montaigne
This movie was just plain wonderful. Its smart, it makes you smile in a meaningful thoughtful way.  Who cares who’s  in this, just don’t miss it!  This is France official entry for the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar 2006.

Alpha Dog
An incredibly violent movie that’s difficult to watch partly because its so well acted.  Based on a true story of the youngest guy ever on the FBI Most Wanted list.  An older brother owes money to creepy friends. These friends decide to kidnap the younger brother to try and extort money.  The younger brother has the time of his life, with the kidnapper.   But we all know it’s not going to end well.   Its one of those manipulative movies that make you care about the kids.

Arthur and the Invisibles
Freddie Highmore is in this.  He is a great actor.  Its an odd movie though combining animation and live action.  Freddy’s is adorable.  Mia Farrow plays a grandmother in this one.  The idea is that Freddy’ is going to save the farm by going through some kind of odd time continuum to the land of the Minimoys.  Cute, interesting and odd.  Performances are good enough. Not to sure if the kids will enjoy, but good for the grown-ups.

God Grew Tired of Us
It’s a well-meaning documentary narrated by Nicole Kidman. Talks about 4 young men who escape from Sudan.  They hike 1,000 miles to safety and try to start a new life in the United States.

Dead Girl
Good Case, Tony Collette, Brittany Murphy, Marcia Gay Harden.  This is a story of different people’s reaction to a dead body (murder)…Piper Laurie is also in this.  Acting is good but hard to watch. I may not have liked it, but you may.

Home Of The Brave
The story is about young people in Iraq who come back home.  Some adjust and some don’t.  A little predictable but a well-meaning movie.  Can’t say too much without giving it away.

Dream Girls
The costumes are beautiful.  Jennifer Hudson and Eddie Murphy are just wonderful.  Music is beautiful. This movie is a Bill Condon Film, the man who did Chicago.  Interesting movie to watch and fun.

Breaking and Entering
This is with Jude Law, who I think is wonderful.  Basically it’s about an architect who’s house is broken into and changes his life.

The Pursuit of Happiness
Is the new Will Smith movie that you’ve heard about, along with his son Jaden Smith, who is adorable.  Based on a true story about a man who was homeless, who ended up working for Dean Whitter.  2 Reasons to see this:  1- Will Smith is a charming actor and his kid was fabulous.  The second reason is because it reminds you of why Mayor Bloomberg is correct…that giving people a place to live makes all the difference in the world.  This is a powerful movie and should be seen by everybody.

Charlottes Web
The adorable Dakota Fanning is in this.  This is based on the novel by EB White. A charming film. Voices include Oprah, Julia Roberts. The animals actually talk.  Your kids will like this and so will you.

Off the Black
If you love Nick Nolte, you’ll like this one.  Some naughty kids are basically toilet papering a house.  One of the kids get caught by Nick Nolte who makes the kid stay after school.  Turns out he talks the kid into posing as his son for his 40th HS reunion. I thought it was different.  The performances are great.  Touching!

Unaccompanied Minors
This is the perfect tween movie. Not violent, and silly.  Something for kids who’ve seen happy feet.  The term of unaccompanied minors refers to kids who are flying without their parents. There are some genuinely funny scenes in this.  I liked the cast.  It is predictable, but cute.

Blood Diamond
This is a fascinating movie, but was incredibly violent.  Most of us only know about peripherally. Which is the notion that diamonds, which women wear on their hands, and in fact US woman are really highly implicated in this movie, essentially are mind with slave labor. I thought it was terrific. It’s on my top 10 list.   Yes it is upsetting, its violent, it is incredibly well acted with Leonardo DiCaprio, who we forget is a terrific actor. Djimon Hounsou, who’s been wonderful in everything he’s done. And Jennifer Connelly looked pretty, though she didn’t have much to do. Passionate, important movie!

The Holiday
Kate Winslet, Cameron Diaz, Jude Law and Jack Black by Nancy Myers.  This is probably the best holiday date movie.  Its frothy, its cute, impossibly beautiful people.  Two unhappy women who both for various reasons just busted through a love affair decided to change houses and what ensues is of course finding men.  It’s got funny lines. The cast is very good.  It’s cute. Eli Wallach was wonderful in this movie!

Volver
Pedro Almodovars latest with Penelope Cruz.  This is a wonderful movie. It’s the “feel good”, definitely classy, about how women relate to their mothers. Wonderful!

A Good Year
Russell Crowe is really charming in this.  I liked everything about this except the ending. Albert Finney from Tom Jones was also terrific.

Stranger Than Fiction
The reason to see this movie is not Will Ferrell but Emma Thompson.  The story is Will Ferrell hears a narrator narrating his life.  We are use to voiceovers in movies, but does it work for this one?  It will do okay.  Will Ferrell fans…He keeps his clothes on in this one!

Copying Beethoven
A Must See!  This is about the last couple of years of Beethoven’s life.  The notion is, Ed Harris, who plays Beethoven is sort of this cranky guy who has a woman who copies his music.  Diane Kruger is wonderful in this.  One of the sexiest movies you are going to see and basically everyone keeps their clothes on. I loved it!  Music is Fabulous.  Ed Harris makes a wonderful Beethoven.

The Aura
A brilliant subtitled movie that no one is going to see.  The idea is a man gets caught up in things and is way over his head.  Wonderful to watch!  Its just plain terrific.

Candy
This is with Keith Ledger and Abby Cornish.  They become Heroin addicts.  Good movie but we’ve seen it before.

Casino Royale
Daniel Craig is the new James Bond.  He’s blond, has big ears, a broken nose, an overbite, and a receding hairline…and he’s absolutely MESMERIZING!  This maybe the best Bond yet.  It’s the prequel – its how James became the man he is.  When the movie opens he’s not even 007 yet. You find the answers to all your questions…How he got his car, woman etc.  Don’t miss.

The Fountain
Darren Aronofsky film with Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz.  The idea being that this has been Darren fantasy movie for years.  Basically its Buddhism for dummies.  Its not a very smart movie but kind of fun to watch.

Bobby
The Emilio Estevez movie with, Anthony Hopkins, Demi Moore, Sharon Stone and everybody else in the world. Emilio decided to make a movie with interconnected stories.  Seeing the footage of Robert Kennedy is electric. The rest of the movie was not very good soap opera.  It makes you really long for Robert Kennedy.

Absolute Wilson
This is a documentary about Robert Wilson who is a choreographer of the avant-garde.  If you like him or like documentaries he is a fascinating person. It includes interviews with Susan Sontag, Philip Glass and David Byrne.  So if you’re a Robert Wilson fan you will be impressed by this.

F---k
Hilarious, funny, colorful, thought provoking, and just plain terrific.

51 Birch Street
This is a fascinating story about a young man who admits he’s closer to his mother than his father. You can’t really describe this without giving it away.  But his mother dies 15 minutes into the movie and now he needs to try and have a relationship with his father but a lot of things happen…just go see it!!!!

Cocaine Cowboys
A documentary about the Miami Drug Wars.  They talk about cocaine as if they were M&M’s.  Scar Face is an angel compared to this one.

Wondrous Oblivion
Is a story about a traditional Jewish family living in England in 1960.  Their son is obsessed with soccer even though he can’t play very well.  The neighbor, Delroy Lindo, who moves in next door, teaches him how to play and also about some life’s lessons.

Nearing Grace
A sort of charming movie.  Story of a young man who mother dies and the mess that he and his family are thrown into and how his family deals with it.  I think David Morse is an under rated actor and he was wonderful in this.

The Nativity Story
This is really a lovely movie, though we’ve seen it before.  It was shot in the Middle East.  The Virgin Mary is played by a very young woman; Keisha Castle-Hughes.  She was just nominated for an Oscar if you didn’t know.  This was a very humanized and accessible story.  This was the first movie that was ever screened at the Vatican. Definitely something to take your kids to.

Santa Claus 3: The Escape Clause
This is the 3rd one.  How much do you want the big fellow in red to be a divorced father, with a trophy wife, who is significantly younger, with a child who calls him uncle, who really is the product of his ex-wife and new husband?  This is a mess.  He doesn’t even get along with his son!  Is this really how we want to see the big man in red?  Will kids like this? No! Will adults like this? Probably not.

Flushed Away
Flushed Away is the newest animation with Hugh Jackman playing like this “James Bond” sophisticated rat that ends up in the London sewers.  I thought it was cute.  This is a step above or below (if you will) the usual animation that it tries to recapture London underneath the streets.  It was okay.

Borat: Cultural Learning’s of America For Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan.
All right folks he’s here with all his cultural learning’s of America.  Is it worth seeing?  Ohh you better believe it!  I went into this thinking…this is not my kind of movie.  Will it be your kind of movie?…Yeah! There is something to offend everybody.  He not only steps over the line, he jumps over the line.  It is just plain hilarious. You will not believe what nerve this guy has.  He’ll never be able to do this again, but it is truly funny.

Death of A President
This is movie making at its best! Whether or not you agree with the premise.  Interesting technique on how to make a movie and this one works!  A “who done it” that will keep you at the edge of your seat!

Catch A Fire
Tim Robbins, plays a South African and Derek Luke who was terrific in Antoine Fisher and is equally terrific in this, takes us to Apartheid in South Africa.  This is so relevant and so seemingly relevant that it is kind of a textbook on how to make a terrorist. It is an alarming movie.  The first 15 minutes I thought were uncomfortable but stick with it. You get to stay to the end and meet the real people that are portrayed, which is always a lot of fun!

Flags Of Our Fathers
This is the Clint Eastwood movie, which has gotten a lot of press.  Its a little confusing. I wasn’t sure if it was pro-war, anti-government. The notion that somehow heroes don’t like being heroic.  We’ve seen everything in this movie before.  Thought there was some terrific performances, and very effective.

Babel
Cate Blanchett and Brad Pitt.  This is sort of an ensemble piece even though they are the big names.  This movie is provocative, interesting, scary, absolutely wonderful.  Presumably based on the tower of Babel showing we don’t communicate well. Literally ripped from today’s headlines.

The Prestige
Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale are rival magicians.  Scarlett Johansson was in this. Fortunately she doesn’t have much to do.  This is actually a pretty good movie.  Don’t want to tell you much about it because I don’t want to give away any surprises, all of which I guessed.

Marie Antoinette
The Kirsten Dunst movie you’ve heard a lot about.  Directed and written by Sofia Coppola.  It is set in kind of the French Revolution. Girls keep saying things like: fabulous…no kidding.  There is kind of a punk rock sound track to it. It is beautiful.  It's like a French pastry, sweet, gorgeous and does not have much substance too it.  It is very entertaining despite what is being said and I was surprised. The end though, you get nothing.  Entertaining and enjoyable.

Zerophilia
A young man discovers he has a genetic condition; which causes him to spontaneously become female…quite often during sex, including bare bosoms.  Pretty good.

Flicka
This is a remake of “My Friend Flicka”, and it was wonderful.  It is about a girl and her horse.  Tim McGraw plays the girls father. It is absolutely adorable.  It will bore the delights out of you. But if you are a girl or a horse you’ll love it!

So Much So Fast
It’s a terrific movie.  It’s a documentary filmed over 5 years with a young man including his family who has ALS, which is Lou Gehrig’s disease. This is one of those movies that is actually funny, sad, terrific.  You should go see it.  It doesn’t sound like fun but it’s really good!

Driving Lessons
Its with one of my favorite actresses, Julie Walters who was in “Educating Rita” along with Rupert Grint who you remember from Harry Potter and Laura Linney.  She plays Lady McBeth with dimples.  She’s terrific in this.  One of her best roles ever.

Alex Rider: Operation Stormbreaker
Is really James Bond for teenagers.  This is a really fun movie with incredibly appealing protagonist, some great stunts. It really does cook!

Man Of The Year
Robin Williams plays Jon Stewart a political commentary humorist who decides to run for president.  This is with Bare Levinson, the two of them teamed up in Good Morning Vietnam, Bare did “Wag the Dog”, which I think is one of the best political satires ever done. Though this one does not hold up as well however, its fun to watch.  Lora Lenny plays a computer specialist who discovers a glitch. Christopher Walkin is Robin Williams manager and decides to be the first manager to ever manage a president.

The Departed
Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon and Jack Nicholson. This is a remake of a great movie I reviewed a couple of years ago…"Infernal Affairs" which takes place in Japan. The idea is a cop infiltrating the mob, there is a mobster who’s in the police department,  and who’s going which one will be uncovered first. Infernal Affairs did it in 90 minutes. This takes 2 ½ hours but its still good. Well directed by Martin Scorsese. It is very violent, don’t know what’s going to happen, very well acted…Go see it.

49 Up
Michael Apted. 42 years ago it was 7UP. He took a bunch of British school kids at 7 years old and filmed their lives every 7 years after that. He picked working class kids, a kid in an orphanage, wealthy kids and followed them through their lives. Which is actually a really cool premise. It’s very compelling, you have to say to yourself who are these 7 year olds, who have they become. Absolutely fascinating! Must see.

Little Children
Todd Fields who did “In the Bedroom”, Kate Winslet, Jennifer Connelly and Patrick Wilson. This is my favorite kind of movie. It weaves everything together. It stories that come and go. It has a palpable sense of menace. Its off beat, definitely not for kids. It is psychologically violent. You walk away haunted by it. Its a well crafted, interesting story of interweaving lives. Don't miss it!

The Guardian
It is not the greatest movie of the week but its a good one. Kevin Costner and Ashton Kutcher are in it. The story: a Coast Guard Rescue Swimmer, played by Kevin Costner is sent to the academy for reason’s the movie will tell you, to train new bee’s. Ashton Kutcher being an arrogant newbee. A lot of this we've seen before. But what is great about this movie is watching how they train coastguard swimmers.  Its absolutely fascinating! There is some interaction between Kevin and Ashton, maybe its the passing of the flipper. Its 2 hours and 8 minutes. Several endings, not bad, but not great.

The Last King of Scotland
The great movie of this week, The Last King of Scotland. It’s going to be a hard sell. It’s a story about Idi Amin. Not anybodies favorite. Forest Whitaker has "Oscar nominee" written all over it. Fascinating movie. James McAvoy is also in it. It will take you into the heart of darkness without sort of much exaggeration. An off beat movie with terrific performances. . Really Good Movie. Go see it!

Jesus Camp
A Documentary that was filmed at an evangelical summer camp for young kids. If this doesn’t chill you, nothing will. This is really a worthwhile movie to see. We talk about propaganda and making terrorist in the Middle East. Let me tell you about what is going on on our soil.
